The Trust Exercise-Proverbs 3:5-6
«Trust in the Lord, with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.» Proverbs 3:5-6
It seems like trusting God is a practice in obedience. He says to trust Him and yet we often neglect to do so.As we choose to put our trust in Him, we begin to see Him act, which then reminds us the next time to trust Him again.Throwing everything into his arms reminds me of a dancer I saw a few nights ago who ran across the stage and fully threw herself through the air at her partner.Fortunately, he caught her, and reinforced her decision to trust him to catch her.It was an amazing leap of faith on her part. That is what He wants from us, to throw ourselves and everything that we care about, fearlessly into His arms. And after we do, what a sense of freedom we experience. And our relationship with Him grows.
Thank you Father, that we can fully trust You.Help us realize any areas we are holding back on and enable us to throw those parts, as well, into your arms.
Blessings to you as you trust Him,
Edie

Sundaes, Sundays, and Motivation
I love sundaes.В What’s not to love about ice cream and sugary toppings (especially chocolate)?
I love Sundays, too.В Do you know why?
Because that’s the day I’ve committed to writing about my spiritual journey.В Just knowing I need to be prepared to write something on Sundays encourages me to think about spirituality all week.В Most weeks, this is a powerful motivation.
Not this week.
This week, my motivation has been organization.В We are nearing the end of the remodeling, which coincidently, is occurring at the same time I’m reaching the point of insanity.В Well, I don’t think I’ve lost my mind yet.В But then again, can a crazy person recognize loony?
prisonersTo top it off, our dining room table is covered with several bags of donations, school supplies and dishes that I’m giving to a friend.В In this room, we also have stacks of tile, painting supplies, as well as our camping stuff which all serve to remind me that I dislike clutter.В I must make it go away.
I might be dazed by primer and paint fumes, but I have my eye on the end that is in sight.В By next weekend, I can have my space back some breathing room my inner peace.В Peace is a spiritual concept, right?В (I’m stretching here it’s the only real exercise I’ve had all week, save the priming and painting.)
Amid the mess and chaos, there is a bright side:В family bonding happened.В As hubby and I commiserated about painting, the boys begged us to let them give it a shot.В So, (reluctantly) we turned over our paint rollers and prepared for the worst.
They loved it.В My older son beamed with pride about the wall he painted в

Debt Ceiling Debate Sows Fear Among Small Business Owners
He blames it all on the debt ceiling debate in Washington. With federal lawmakers locked in a battle over a deal to increase the government's borrowing authority and reduce the long-term deficit, small business owners across the nation are on edge, nervously watching the proceedings that seem to go nowhere.
It would be a routine fight in the nation's capital but for one thing: The lack of an agreement could spark a real economic crisis. The government will exhaust its borrowing authority by August 2 if the debt ceiling is not raised, the Treasury has said. After that, Social Security payments could possibly be delayed.A credit rating agency might downgrade our debt, potentially causing interest rates throughout the economy to rise. And the federal government might even default on its loans.
Small business owners know all too well what an economic crisis could mean for them. Many are still recovering from the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression, when a financial crisis caused banks to tighten credit and consumers to tighten their purse strings. Now, business owners say, politicians in Washington have introduced a new risk into the system, with potentially devastating repercussions.
"The debt debate adds another layer of ice to a frozen situation," said David Adkisson, president and chief executive of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce."People are afraid to hire, add a new product line, resume a third shift of production."
Some business owners, like Gardner, have already changed plans.Others are simply afraid.
"If they cannot get the debt ceiling debate settled, so that something goes on the president's desk and he signs it, we're gonna just close the doors," said Mike Richardson, who works at his wife's shop Ferrari Florist & Gifts in Santa Cruz, Calif., a business with fewer than 10 employees.
"We've been beating our heads against the wall for three years now with the recession, and we just now are starting to feel like we're getting someplace," he continued."Now that we've reached this point, this comes along."
The back-in-forth in Washington over the past week has yielded little but a sickening sense of disappointment.Congressional leaders have offered plans to raise the debt ceiling and cut hundreds of billions of dollars in spending, but signs of agreement are scant as incessant partisan bickering dominates the airwaves.
"The political crisis in itself is going to bring along a lack of confidence," said Bruce Huff, managing partner of the Sausalito, Calif.-based Kimber Companies, a family business that includes a commercial brokerage."This is the single most manufactured crisis I've ever seen. There is absolutely no reason for this.None."
Huff has long been worried that interest rates might rise precipitously, he said, and he's been steadily reducing his company's level of debt over the past several years. This gridlock in Washington might cause the spike he's been expecting, he said.
These fears could hardly be coming at a worse time. After it seemed late last year that the economic recovery was finally gathering momentum, a variety of indicators showed progress slowing as winter became spring.Consumer confidence fell.Home prices continued sliding.Unemployment crested back above 9 percent after improving in February and March.
On Friday, the government released a sobering piece of data: gross domestic product grew at an annual rate of 1.3 percent in the second quarter -- well below economists' forecasts.Growth in the first quarter was also revised down to an anemic 0.4 percent.
Small businesses, which the Obama Administration has said contribute a majority of the nation's jobs, are hurting. The Small Business Optimism Index, a composite that reflects factors such as plans to increase employment and expectations that the economy will improve, peaked in February, and has been falling ever since, according to the National Federation of Independent Business.June's reading was the lowest in eight months.
Even industries that recently showed strength are beginning to feel strain.Vista Metals, a manufacturing company located outside Pittsburgh, has seen its orders soften since June, when the debt ceiling debate began to heat up, said company treasurer Mark Shelleby. The metals manufacturer, which has 125 employees, ought to hire 10 more, he said. But those plans are now on hold.
"The uncertainty, that is paramount," said Shelleby, a board member of the advocacy group SMC Business Councils."We can't increase our cost basis -- meaning, hiring employees -- if in fact the potential for the economy, and our sales revenue, in the second half is going to be slow.We can't ramp up for growth."
To Eric Blinderman, a restaurant owner in New York City, the potential fallout from the debt ceiling debate seems a cruel irony.Inspired by the success of his restaurant Mas (farmhouse), which serves locally sourced organic food, Blinderman decided to build a second location, which is set to open in late summer. He got a group of loans to finance the new restaurant, taking advantage of federal guarantees under the Small Business Jobs Act of 2010.
But now, the same federal government that purports to help small businesses has become a source of anxiety for Blinderman (who has blogged for The Huffington Post). The interest rate on a portion of his loans has not yet locked in, and if interest rates rise as a result of the political stalemate, that could add an unwelcome strain, he said.
"They keep saying they're trying to help job-creators.Holy crap!I'm a job-creator!" he said, nearly shouting with frustration."I don't get it.It's so through-the-looking-gla*s insane, I just want to punch my head against a wall."
It's not just interest rate risk that has business owners worried. Many fear that consumers will reduce spending if they're spooked by the wrangling over the debt limit, or if the government severely cuts outlays.Richardson, who works at his wife's florist, said he's worried people will cut back on purchasing flowers.
Gardner, who owns the men's clothing store in San Francisco, said he's already seen his business suffer as buyers become more frugal.
"When the talk of all this debt ceiling stuff started, my business stopped," he said."I'm not kidding you.It just literally stopped one day.It was like there was a running water faucet and somebody turned the water off."

Obesity Linked to Risk for Decompensation of Cirrhosis
The study sample consisted of 161 patients with compensated cirrhosis in whom data on BMI were available and who were enrolled in a randomized trial of beta-blockers to prevent varices. At study enrollment, participants underwent laboratory testing and measurement of portal pressure with use of the hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG).Follow-up continued until development of CD, defined as ascites, hepatic encephalopathy, or variceal hemorrhage, or until September 2002.Median duration of follow-up was 59 months.
At enrollment, 29% of participants had a normal BMI, 40% were overweight, and 30% were obese.CD occurred in 48 (30%) of 161 patients during follow-up.Rate of CD increased with increasing BMI: 15% in those with a normal BMI, 31% in the overweight group, and 43% in the obese group (P = .011).The groups with an abnormal BMI had a significantly higher actuarial probability of the development of CD (P = .022).
BMI was an independent predictor of CD (hazard ratio, 1.06; 95% confidence interval, 1.01 - 1.12; P = .02), as were HVPG and albumin, in a multivariate model that included factors previously determined to predict CD (HVPG, albumin level, Mayo end-stage liver disease score), cause, and treatment group.
"Patients who are overweight or obese are at greater risk of accelerating the progression of cirrhosis," Dr.Garcia-Tsao said."Weight reduction may improve patient outcomes in this high-risk population and studies addressing this specific issue are warranted."
Limitations of this study include the fact that the original trial was not performed with the objective of evaluating the impact of obesity on CD.
"[I]ncreased BMI is an independent predictor of clinical decompensation in patients with compensated cirrhosis of various etiologies, suggesting that obesity accelerates the progression of cirrhosis and that its correction could be a valuable nonpharmacological measure to improve prognosis in this patient population," the study authors conclude.
The National Institutes of Health and the Instituto de Salud Carlos III supported this study. The study authors have disclosed no relevant financial relationships.

DELTA BUILDS MAHEU PLANT IN HARARE
Speaking at an annual general meeting on Wednesday, chief executive officer Joe Mtizwa said the company is investing in the plant in order to localise production of the newly established maheu brands.
The company is currently importing the beverage from Zambia.
«We are also investing to localise production of the newly established maheu brands. This starch-based non-carbonated and non-alcoholic beverage was, during the year under review, imported from an a*sociate company in Zambia,» chairperson of the company Canaan Dube said.
Mtizwa said volume performances were running ahead of expectation across the board as a result of strong demand.
«This makes the strongest first-quarter volumes since dollarisation coming through in three months from January to March,» said Mtizwa.
«Despite the unusually cold weather, volumes were strong except for soft drinks, which are the most sensitive to the cold spell,» he said.
In a trading update for the first quarter, volumes for maheu were up 182% to 25 000 hectolitres (hls), lager beer volumes were up 28% to 460 000hls.
Soft drinks volumes were up 45% to 333 000hls while sorghum beer recorded a surge of 17%
852 000hls.
Mtizwa said a strong drive was under way to localise supply in collaboration with suppliers. To achieve this provided import parity benchmarks are to be met with regard to price quality and reliability of supply.
«We recently signed a contract with Starafrica and Triangle to localise our supplies,» said Mtizwa. He said utilities were a big issue but they were investing to achieve dedicated Zesa Holdings Limitedsupplies at key production facilities.
Dube said the focus in the year ahead will be on revenue growth through increasing the premium beverage segment contribution and the installation of more capacity in the sparkling beverages business
The company expects to commission a new packaging line at the Graniteside plant by August 2011.
«Installation of the new 42 000 bottles per hour sparkling beverage lines for $13 million at Graniteside plant is expected to commence production next month. And a new beer packaging line planned for the Southerton plant by July or August by 2012 ahead of summer peak demand,» said Dube.
В Sales revenues for the quarter ending June 2011 were up 42% to $144 million while earning before tax, interest, taxation, depreciation and ammortisation was $22,7 million.Delta said volumes for its a*sociate company, Schweppes Zimbabwe Limited, for the six months ending June were up 18% as a result of juice shortages.

Blogger Helen Smith:
I just saw a picture of Michelle Obama on Drudge with a storyline underneath exclaiming «Apple Slices in Every Happy Meal!» I headed over to the linked article and read:

Dirty talk to say sorry?
There are different ways of apologising.Simply saying sorry, giving a bunch of flowers, giving a present crying and begging for forgiveness. But ?Somebody was searching for that and that led him to my blog.
What would be examples of apologising using dirty talk?I actually started writing some but decided they are more for a porn blog, not for here, so I deleted that.
Has anybody apologised to you using dirty talk?Would you forgive in such a situation?
Anyway, I’m leaving Surrey today, flying off for summer holidays.I’m looking forward to it, meeting some old friends and going horse riding!!!I’ll stay in touch.x
